Psalms Walk-Thru #003

“Jehovah shall judge the people; judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.  O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just. For the righteous God tries the hearts and minds.  My defense is from God, who saves the upright in heart.  God judges the righteous, and the Mighty God is angry with the wicked every day.”  Psalms 7:8-11

If only sometimes it was told as it really is, if only the truth about God was boldly proclaimed, without worrying about being looked down upon.  Then when those who proclaim things that are not, proclaiming lies against their Creator are corrected in the open, what would those who are within earshot do with such knowledge?

Consider our education system.  Our children are taught that evolution is responsible for their existence, yet this is not what God’s Word teaches.  (Rom. 1)  What if there was a revolt against these lies, instead of allowing rebellion against God Almighty?  Should those who know otherwise, who know God’s truth in the matter, sit silently?  Should such teachings be held only in the privacy of one’s own home or should you consider that these lies against our Creator are openly taught and proclaimed boldly to generations of school children?  This is just one example, the list is very long.

Recently a neighbor appeared at my door on helloween with a bag of candy for my son.  She inquired if he could have it, to which I firmly asserted that we don’t celebrate Halloween.  I explained that it was contrary to our Christian beliefs and a dark holiday, of which Christ has no place.  Shockingly she agreed that the holiday was dark and seemed to express disdain that churches even partake part of it at all.  Has God not given all men a conscience to understand the difference between right and wrong?  Indeed He has. (Rom. 2:15)

Let us never forget that all will stand before God Almighty.  (Rom. 14:12)  While there are those who will speak up from time to time against the lies, for most, what about our silence?

“When I say to the wicked, You shall die the death, and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.  Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.”  Ezekiel 3:18-19

Honor and praise be to God who sent His Son to die on the Cross for our sins.  (Jn. 3:16)  Jesus didn’t shy away from proclaiming the Truth.  (Jn. 14:6)  He came to save sinners, not to allow them to continue in their way.  (Luke 5:32)  Indeed the wicked will stand before God and no one will be able to help them at that time.  (Rev. 20:15)

“The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made; their own foot is caught in the net which they hid.  Jehovah is known. He has executed judgment; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.  The wicked shall be turned away into Sheol, all the nations that forget God.”  Psalms 9:15-17

David boldly proclaimed the things of God.  He didn’t shy away from praising the greatness of God Almighty.  The Bible refers to David as a man after God’s own heart.  (1st. Sam. 13:14)

“But Jehovah shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for justice.  And He shall judge the world in righteousness; He shall execute judgment to the people with equity.  Jehovah also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of distress.  And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Jehovah, have not forsaken those who seek You.  Sing praises to Jehovah, who dwells in Zion; declare His deeds among the nations.”  Psalms 9:7-11

Let us not forget the words of Jesus:

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a grain measure, but on a lampstand, and it shines for all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.”  Matthew 5:14-16

Amen!
