Psalms Walk-Thru #009

“My Mighty God, My Mighty God, why have You forsaken Me, and are far from My deliverance, and from the words of My groaning?  O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not answer; and in the nighttime, and am not silent.  But You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.  Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You delivered them.  They cried to You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not ashamed.  But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.  All who see Me mock Me; they shoot out the lip; they shake the head, saying,  He trusted on Jehovah; let Him deliver Him; let Him rescue Him, since He delights in Him!  For You are He who took Me out of the womb, causing Me to trust while on My mother’s breasts.  I was cast upon You from the womb; You are My Mighty God from My mother’s belly.  Be not far from Me, for trouble is near; for there is no one to help.  Many bulls have encircled Me; strong bulls of Bashan have surrounded Me.  They have gaped at Me with their mouths, like a tearing and roaring lion.  I am poured out like water, and all My bones are separated; My heart is like wax, it has melted within Me.  My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws; and You have brought Me into the dust of death.  For dogs have surrounded Me; the congregation of the wicked have enclosed Me. They have pierced My hands and My feet.  I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.  They divide My garments among them and cast lots for My clothing.  But You, O Jehovah, be not far from Me; O My Strength, make haste to help Me!  Deliver My soul from the sword, My only one from the hand of the dog.  Deliver Me from the lion’s mouth; from the horns of the oryx. You have answered Me.  I will declare Your name to My brothers; in the midst of the assembly I will praise You.  You who fear Jehovah, praise Him! All you seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and fear Him all you seed of Israel!  For He has not despised nor detested the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from him; but when he cried out to Him, He heard.  My praise shall be of You in the great assembly; I will make good My vows before those who fear Him.  The lowly shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek Jehovah shall praise Him; your heart shall live forever.  All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to Jehovah; and all the families of the nations shall bow down before You.  For the kingdom is Jehovah’s; and He rules over the nations.  All the fat ones of the earth shall eat and bow down; all those who go down to the dust shall bow before Him, for no one can keep alive his own soul.  A seed shall serve Him; it shall be recounted of Jehovah to the coming generation.  They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness to a people that shall yet be born, that He has done this.”  Psalms 22

Certainly as we often say, trust and obey.  For those who are Saved, those who are true Christians, those who have repented and believed into Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they know that they walk by faith, but our faith is not in vain.

“Then Peter said to them, Repent, and let every one of you be immersed in the name of Jesus Christ to the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”  Acts 2:38

“Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has established a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has appointed. He has given assurance of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.”  Acts 17:30-31

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”  2nd Corinthians 5:7

“Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?  But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised.  And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain and your faith is also vain.  Yes, and we are found to be false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up; if in fact the dead are not raised.  For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised.  And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.  Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.  If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.  But now Christ has been raised from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.  For since through man came death, through Man also came the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam everyone dies, even so in Christ everyone shall be made alive.  But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.  Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God, even the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.  For it is necessary for Him to reign till He has put every enemy under His feet.  The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.”  1st Corinthians 15:12-26

Truly we can put our trust in God, we can trust Him with every aspect of our lives (Pr. 3:5).  The walk-thru started off with a chapter in Psalms that should be dear to every Believer.  We see a fulfilled prophecy regarding Jesus who died on the Cross for our sins (1st Pet. 2:24) and rose again (1st Cor. 15:3-8).  The Bible is full of prophecies regarding Jesus, but this one is particularly interesting in that it clearly shows that Christ would be crucified.  This was written nearly a 1,000 years before crucifixion was used as a means of death.

“They have pierced My hands and My feet.”  Psalms 22:16b

The importance of believing God’s Word in the Bible, from cover to cover can not be understated.  We must trust in God, but also know that His truths are contained in the Holy Scriptures.

Just as the Bible prophetically foretold about Jesus throughout the Old Testament, we can be assured that every other prophecy yet to be fulfilled, will be fulfilled in God’s timing.  So just how should we live our lives?

“Therefore we need to more abundantly heed the things we have heard, so that they do not slip our minds.  For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense,  how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,  God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various works of power, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?”  Hebrews 2:1-4

“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also become holy in all conduct, because it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.  And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, behave yourselves throughout the time of your sojourning in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your vain way of life received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.  He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God.  Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently out of a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the Word of God which lives and abides forever, because All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the Word of the Lord endures forever. Now this is the Word which by the gospel was preached to you.”  1st Peter 1:13-25

As the world continues to deny their Creator, let those who trust and obey continue to do so, knowing that their faith is not in vain.

“Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of Jehovah been revealed?  For He grows up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of the dry ground. He has no form nor splendor that we should regard Him, nor anything spectacular that we should desire Him.  He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of pain, and knowing infirmity; a hiding of faces; being despised, we have esteemed Him not.  Truly He has borne our sicknesses, and carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.  But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, each one to his own way; and Jehovah has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.  He has been oppressed, and He was afflicted; yet He opens not His mouth. He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before its shearers is mute, so He opens not His mouth.  He was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall declare His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of My people He was stricken.  And His grave was assigned with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; although He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth.  Yet it pleased Jehovah to crush Him; to grieve Him; that He should give His soul as a sin-offering. He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the delight of Jehovah shall prosper in His hand.  He shall see the travail of His soul, and shall be fulfilled. By His knowledge shall My righteous Servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.  Therefore I will apportion to Him with the great, and He shall divide the spoils with the strong; because He has poured out His soul unto death; and He was reckoned among the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”  Isaiah 53

“And I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and supplication. And they shall look on Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they shall be bitter over Him, like the bitterness over the firstborn.”  Zechariah 12:10

Amen!
