Psalms Walk-Thru #010

“Jehovah is my Shepherd; I shall not want.”  Psalms 23:1   Indeed!  Can those of us who truly know the Lord understand the treasures that are contained herein?     …“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”  Psalms 119:105b   “I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in everything I am taught both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to lack.”  Philippians 4:12   “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me to waters of rest.”  Psalms 23:2   “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”  Proverbs 3:6   “He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness because of His great name.”  Psalms 23:3   Just how many times do we get discouraged about one thing or another, but God restores our soul.  While we often say and will continue to say, trust and obey, let’s not forget the words of that good song.   ‘For the favor He shows, and the joy He bestows Are for them who will trust and obey’   “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”  Psalms 23:4   Silly thought, perhaps, but I certainly have come to understand these words, they are quite personal for our family, yet I have often thought what it would be like if God called me to preach in a heavily crime ridden neighborhood.  Walking...

Psalms Walk-Thru #009

“My Mighty God, My Mighty God, why have You forsaken Me, and are far from My deliverance, and from the words of My groaning?  O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not answer; and in the nighttime, and am not silent.  But You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.  Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You delivered them.  They cried to You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not ashamed.  But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.  All who see Me mock Me; they shoot out the lip; they shake the head, saying,  He trusted on Jehovah; let Him deliver Him; let Him rescue Him, since He delights in Him!  For You are He who took Me out of the womb, causing Me to trust while on My mother’s breasts.  I was cast upon You from the womb; You are My Mighty God from My mother’s belly.  Be not far from Me, for trouble is near; for there is no one to help.  Many bulls have encircled Me; strong bulls of Bashan have surrounded Me.  They have gaped at Me with their mouths, like a tearing and roaring lion.  I am poured out like water, and all My bones are separated; My heart is like wax, it has melted within Me.  My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws; and You have brought Me into the dust of death.  For dogs have surrounded Me; the congregation of the wicked have enclosed...

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of Jehovah our God.”  Psalms 20:7   From time to time and place to place, troubling times appear on the horizon, sometimes those trouble actually surface to real problems.  For some it could be war, for others it could be an economic collapse, other times it could simply be a small town that just lost the factory that was the lifeline.  When these sorts of things happen, a lot of people relocate, some out of necessity, others forced to do so.  For the Believer, one who has truly repented and believed in Jesus Christ as their Savior, we remember God, we know that He cares about us.   “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares about you.”  1st Peter 5:6-7   “Save, O Jehovah! Let the King answer us when we call.”  Psalms 20:9   We must always remember that as Christians, certainly our lives are in Christ (Col. 3:3) and we have hope in Him (Rom. 15:3).  While God ultimately has His purposes regarding our lives, we certainly have access to the Father, through Jesus Christ.   “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.  Let us therefore come boldly to...

“The heavens declare the glory of the Mighty God; and the firmament proclaims His handiwork.”  Psalms 19:1   Right here in this verse we have what is irrefutable evidence, should the world choose to accept it, that God does exist.  There are no excuses as to why mankind should not understand their sinful condition and believe the Gospel.    “For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is clearly recognized by them, for God has revealed it to them.  For ever since the creation of the world the unseen things of Him are clearly perceived, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,  because, although they know God, they do not glorify Him as God, nor are thankful, but become vain in their reasonings, and their stupid hearts are darkened.  Professing to be wise, they become foolish, and change the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”  Romans 1:18-23   As Christians, we must not be compromising about God and what His Word says regarding Creation.  Certainly the world was Created in six, twenty-four periods, or in six days (Gen. 1:31).  Not days that lasted millions or billions of years, literal days.  For if we speak of the Gospel to those who will listen and tell how Jesus died on the Cross for their sins (1 Pet. 2:24), speak of the gift of...

“I love You, O Jehovah, my strength.”  Psalms 18:1   Truly who can make such a statement, who can declare such a thing?  Is this not the will of the Lord?   “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”  John 14:5    After all, “And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart, with all your soul, exceedingly in every way.”  Deuteronomy 6:5   “Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”  Matthew 22:37-40   David also declared in Psalms:   “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.”  Psalms 51:17   How can those who truly know the Lord have such a heart?  For knowing that the Lord takes care of those who are His (1 Pet. 5:7) and seeing the riches He provides for His own  are without fathom (Eph. 3:8).  For after all, He paid the penalty on the Cross for our sins (Rom. 4:25), for all who are willing to repent (Acts 17:30-31) and in faith believe (John 3:16) into Him as their Lord and Savior.   “Jehovah is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my Mighty God, my rock wall, in whom I will trust; He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I will call upon...

Psalms Walk-Thru #005

“The fool has said in his heart, There is no God! They are corrupt; they have done abominable works, there is no one who does good.”  Psalms 14:1   How much of the world would prefer to say there is no God?  Truly as the time until the end continues, more and more join the ranks of not only being corrupt, but also making such a foolish statement.    “Professing to be wise, they become foolish, and change the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”  Romans 1:22-23   Just on the surface, as a Christian, I could only imagine life without Christ, without the joy of the Lord, what a hopeless state!  To me, to consider that there are those who go throughout life denying their Creator is but unimaginable in my life.  Even though I was Saved at the relatively young age of 9, I still believed in God beforehand.  Yet many of us who are Christians are mocked for such faith and considered foolish for believing such ‘old fashioned myths’.    Truly that puts the foolishness of their heart into prospective.  To be able to look around and clearly see the evidence that God has provided simply in the mirror, while denying God, is not only astonishing, it is a sad condition of the heart.  As Believers we know that we can fully trust the Lord, we understand that He watches out for those who are His and we know that whatever happens to us, happens according to His will.   “Watch over...
