Proving that hell is a literal place of eternal punishment\u2026<\/strong><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

This study is going to take a comprehensive look at hell and prove beyond a doubt the following things:<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

That hell is a literal place and those who go there are there for eternity.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day.\u00a0 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.\u00a0 So it happened that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Then he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.\u00a0 But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.\u00a0 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, nor can those from there pass to us.\u00a0 Then he said, I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, that they not also come to this place of torment.\u00a0 Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.\u201d\u00a0 Luke 16:19-29<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Here we have a story that is given to us that proves beyond a doubt the existence of hell.\u00a0 The rich man died and was sent to hell.\u00a0 This is not a parable, this really happened.\u00a0 The sad fact is those who are not Saved, go to hell for eternity.\u00a0 In fact that rich man is still there, right now.\u00a0 Think about that.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThen He will also say to those on the left hand, Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire having been prepared for the devil and his angels.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 25:41<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Shall we believe Jesus?\u00a0 For He warns:<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all the stumbling blocks, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 13:41-42<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cSo it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go forth, separate the wicked from among the righteous, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 13:49-50<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIf your hand makes you stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to Gehenna, into the fire that shall never be quenched; where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.\u00a0 And if your foot makes you stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into Gehenna, into the fire that shall never be quenched; where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.\u00a0 And if your eye makes you stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into the fire of Gehenna; where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.\u201d\u00a0 Mark 9:43-48<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into Gehenna; yes, I say to you, Fear Him!\u201d\u00a0 Luke 12:5<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s continue\u2026<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201clet burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into deep pits, that they rise not up again.\u201d\u00a0 Psalms 140:10<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now already the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore any tree which does not bear good fruit is cut off and thrown into the fire.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 3:10<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd if your right eye snares you into sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, and not your whole body be cast into Gehenna.\u00a0 And if your right hand snares you into sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, and not your whole body be cast into Gehenna.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 5:29-30<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery tree that does not produce excellent fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 7:19<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIf your hand or foot entices you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.\u00a0 And if your eye entices you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into the fire of Gehenna.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 18:8-9<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cfor You will not leave My soul in Sheol; nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.\u201d\u00a0 Psalms 16:10<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cLet death seize them, and let them go down alive into Sheol; for evil is among them and<\/em> in their dwellings.\u201d\u00a0 Psalms 55:15<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut he does not know that the spirits of the dead are<\/em> there; the ones she summons are<\/em> in the depths of Sheol.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 9:18<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cI made the nations shake at the sound of its fall, when I cast it down to Sheol together with those who descend into the Pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the depths of the earth.\u00a0 They also went down to Sheol with it, with those slain by the sword; and those who were its arm, who dwelt in its shadows among the nations.\u201d\u00a0 Ezekiel 31:16-17<\/h3>\n

\u201cThey do not lie with the mighty of the uncircumcised who are fallen, who have gone down to Sheol with their weapons of war; they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities will be on their bones, though the terror of the mighty was in the land of the living.\u201d\u00a0 Ezekiel 32:27<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cIf anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is dried up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.\u201d\u00a0 John 15:6<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Proof that hell is eternal\u2026<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the devil, who led them astray, was cast into the Lake of Fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.\u201d\u00a0 Revelation 20:10<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one, according to their works.\u00a0 And Death and Hades were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death.\u00a0 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.\u201d\u00a0 Revelation 20:13-15<\/h3>\n

\u201cAnd many of those sleeping in the earth’s dust shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to reproach and<\/em> everlasting abhorrence.\u201d\u00a0 Daniel 12:2<\/h3>\n

There are many different names of hell in the Holy Scriptures, this study will take a look at those different names.<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sheol<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, and he said, I will go down into Sheol mourning for my son. Thus his father wept for him.\u201d\u00a0 Genesis 37:35<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAs the cloud vanishes and goes away, so he who goes down to Sheol does not come up.\u201d\u00a0 Job 7:9<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Abaddon<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cSheol is naked before Him, and Abaddon has no covering.\u201d\u00a0 Job 26:6<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.\u201d\u00a0 Revelation 9:11<\/h3>\n

Grave<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cMy spirit is broken, my days are extinguished, the grave is ready for me.\u201d\u00a0 Job 17:1<\/h3>\n

\u201cfree among the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom You remember no more, and who have been cut off from Your hand.\u201d\u00a0 Psalms 88:5<\/h3>\n

Hades<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 11:23<\/h3>\n

\u201cAnd being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.\u201d\u00a0 Luke 16:23<\/h3>\n

Tartarus<\/h3>\n

\u201cFor if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment.\u201d\u00a0 2 Peter 2:4<\/h3>\n

Death<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cO Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?\u201d\u00a0 1st<\/sup> Corinthians 15:55<\/h3>\n

\u201cAnd Death and Hades were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death.\u201d\u00a0 Revelation 20:14<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gehenna<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, Empty head! shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, You fool! shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 5:22<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd do not fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear Him who has power to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 10:28<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Lake of Fire<\/h3>\n

<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he led astray those who received the mark of the beast and those who did homage to his image. These two were cast alive into the Lake of Fire burning with brimstone.\u201d\u00a0 Revelation 19:20<\/h3>\n
