{"id":4333,"date":"2011-09-14T21:04:02","date_gmt":"2011-09-14T21:04:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.allwillstand.org\/?p=4333"},"modified":"2026-01-26T21:08:48","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T21:08:48","slug":"word-study-repent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.allwillstand.org\/index.php\/2011\/09\/14\/word-study-repent\/","title":{"rendered":"Word Study: Repent"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Word Study: Repent and other variations of the word.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Introduction:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">This word study on repentance is being focused on the Gospels for now.\u00a0 It should be noted that repent or any variations of that word are not found in the Gospel of John.\u00a0 This by no means designates that there is any other way for which to receive Salvation, namely repentance and believing into Jesus Christ, the only Way.\u00a0 This is often the excuse or proof-text, if you will, given by preachers who omit repentance and promote easy-believerism or quick-prayerism.\u00a0 This word study assignment should leave no question that repentance is indeed necessary for one to enter the kingdom of Heaven, in fact it is necessary for Salvation.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Repent<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cand saying, Repent, for the <\/em><em>kingdom<\/em><em> of <\/em><em>Heaven<\/em><em> has drawn near!\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 3:2<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cFrom that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the <\/em><em>kingdom<\/em><em> of <\/em><em>Heaven<\/em><em> has drawn near.\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 4:17<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cand saying, The time is fulfilled, and the <\/em><em>kingdom<\/em><em> of <\/em><em>God<\/em><em> is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.\u201d\u00a0 Mark <\/em><em>1:15<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cAnd they went out, and preached that men should repent.\u201d\u00a0 Mark <\/em><em>6:12<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cI tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.\u201d\u00a0 Luke 13:3<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cAnd he said, No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.\u201d\u00a0 Luke 16:30<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0 Here is a man in hell, he knows that those of his kindred need to repent to avoiding going where he is.<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cTake heed to yourselves. He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire;\u201d\u00a0 Matthew 3:11<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cBut go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice.
