Basic Salvation Message

It is important to remember what 2 Corinthians 11:3 reminds us about, “simplicity that is in Christ.”  Salvation is not a complicated ordeal, it is simple.  Salvation is about the heart and truly repenting and believing unto the Lord Jesus Christ.  There are only two choices that a person has, either repent and believe and be with the Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven or be cast into the lake of fire for eternity.  Heaven or hell, those are the choices, it is that simple.

Some simple questions to ask:

Why do I need to be Saved?

Man is born into sin.  God is holy and therefore cannot have sin in His presence.  God created you and gave you a choice.

“There is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all gone out of the way; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.”  Romans 3:10-12

“But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags…”  Isaiah 64:6

“…just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”  Romans 5:12

behold I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me…”  Psalms 51:5

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”  Romans 3:23

“.for the wages of sin is death…”  Romans 6:23

“The soul who sins shall die… and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself” Ezekiel 18:20

Why did God the Father, and Jesus do for me?

God sent His Son, Jesus to do on the cross for your sins.  Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice and His death on the cross paid the price for all of mankind’s sin.  The option is available to every soul who would like to receive it.

“…the wages of sin is death, But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

“The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”  1 John 1:7

“By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”  Ephesians 2:8-9

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.”  Titus 3:5

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly…God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:6,8

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

What do I have to do to be Saved?

Repent.  Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose on the third day.  Believe that Jesus is God’s only begotten Son.  It is truly an issue of the heart, not a ‘sinner’s prayer’.  As long as you believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and repent of your sins you are Saved.  However you can not just utter some words and not truly mean it in your heart.  You must truly repent and truly believe.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.”  Acts 16:31

“Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is [exists], and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”  Hebrews 11:6

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”  Jacob 4:8-10

“These times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.”  Acts 17:30

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise…but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”  2 Peter 3:9

“I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you…testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks [Gentiles], REPENTANCE toward God and FAITH toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Acts 20:20-21

“…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”  2 Corinthians 6:2

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life”  John 3:16

For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord Shall be saved”   Joel 2:32
