Following Who?

There is a very dangerous trend that has happened in the past and will surely happen in the future.  Man looking for man to solve man’s problems.  While societies could look at their ills that need to be addressed, such as jobs, infrastructure, health care, etc., often times for many people, not only in the United States, but around the world, the are truly focused on their own household.

While there are certainly things that leaders, whether elected, celebrities with their foundations, political movement figures, etc., can certainly do, such as donate a large amount of food or clothing, give money, help create jobs, the bottom line is people are looking towards man to not only fix the ills of society, but those of their own household.

There certainly can be merit in some of the efforts that man does to provide help, but too often the problems they intend to fix create other problems or their public intentions are not their private intentions.  Even if man was able to begin to provide some sort of utopia, what would be a utopia for one segment of society would be a dystopia to another segment.

Families around the world are concerned about a job to make enough income to provide the necessities of life.  Then those who have such an amount of income are often focused on making more to provide for the desires and pleasures of life.  A healthy family who supposedly remains so through access to proper medical care, is another focus, then there are the concerns that some focus on regarding their imagined rights, as well as the rights of the earth.  However in all of this there is great error, who are they following?

If they turned to their Creator and saw their medical condition, they would realize they are on life support.  Should their last breath be breathed, their condition would be eternally fatal as they would then be lost and without a Savior, their sinful condition would mean they are destined for eternity in the Lake of Fire.

…”for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”…  Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.”  Revelation 20:15

If they turned to their Creator and realized the great Gift that He has bestowed to those who will accept it, then they would realize that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to save that which was lost.  He came to pay the penalty for their sins and died on the Cross for them.  He rose from the dead three days later, having conquered death.  Would they then realize that they have been looking to a man for help, instead of God?  If they thought they needed help in the necessities of this life, who would they turn to in regards to their home for eternity?  A man or Jesus?

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone believing into Him should not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.  The one believing into Him is not judged; but the one not believing is judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.  For everyone practicing evil hates the Light and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be reproved.  But the one doing the truth comes to the Light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been worked in God.”  John 3:16-21

…” for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”  Luke 19:10

…” believing in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice on the hope of the glory of God.”  Romans 4:24b – 5:2

“Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.  But they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb.  And they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.  And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments.  And, as they were terrified and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, Why do you seek the living among the dead?  He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.  And they remembered His words.”  Luke 24:1-8

Truly there are many poor people throughout the world.  While America has its fair share, we have all seen the images that are on television asking for money for poor starving African children, this is not a joke or to be taken lightly.  While Americans scramble to figure out ways to scam the government for more money for food, others would be very happy to eat rice and beans, with a few vegetables on a daily basis, foods that most people stick their nose up to.  Meat on every plate has been a battle cry for some politicians, yet where is their daily meat from hearing the Word of God?  Those who have trusted in Him, know that they can safely rest assured that He will provide their basic necessities.

“But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”  Matthew 4:4

“Your Words were found, and I ate them; and Your Word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Jehovah the God of Hosts.”  Jeremiah 15:16

“I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.  All day long he is gracious and lends, and his seed is blessed.  Depart from evil and do good, and live forevermore.  For Jehovah loves justice and does not forsake His Godly ones; they are preserved forever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.  The righteous shall inherit the earth, and dwell in it forever.”  Pslams 37:25-29

Jobs is always a large battle cry to create a movement of followers looking towards a future leader or a current leader regarding the ultimate saving mechanism.  A good job with benefits is a well-rounded wish that would seemingly provide for all of one’s earthly desires.  Yet it is self that they are after, not anything else.  For they desire the good jobs with great benefits, but themselves vote to continue to enslave people around the world in sweat-shop conditions producing cheap goods.  The overwhelming abundance of foreign manufactured goods testifies that the few bucks saved for self was the ultimate vote that took away these jobs in the first place.  It is the same selfish mindset of seeking ones own pleasure, rather than the things of God, that will cause the vast majority of those to continue on the broad path to destruction.

“No one is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. It is not possible to serve God and mammon.  Therefore I say to you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?  Observe the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  Which of you by being anxious is able to add one cubit to his stature?  So why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear?  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”  Matthew 6:24-34

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves dig through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not dig through and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many entering in through it.  Because narrow is the gate and distressing is the way which leads unto life, and there are few who find it.”  Matthew 7:13-14

Rather than realize the lack of self-worth, the utter helpless and despicable condition of their sin before their Creator, they will continue on trying to figure out how to get the things in life that will best fit themselves.  In their end, due to their refusal to acknowledge their sin, repent and cry out to God Almighty, believing into Jesus Christ as their Savior, they will continue to vehemently search out for someone to follow who will promise to provide them with the pleasures of this life.  God has a promise to those who truly become born-again Believers also, Him should you follow, Him alone, for there is equally a promise to those who refuse to repent and seek Him and I assure you that all of the words of God will stand, irregardless of what a man might otherwise tell you.

“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”  2nd Corinthians 7:10

“And he brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?  So they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”  Acts 16:30-31

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.  To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”  Revelation 3:20-21

Amen!
