Where is Wisdom?

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  Romans 12:2

“For the leaders of this people lead them astray; and those who are led by them are swallowed up.”  Isaiah 9:16

Michigan, like other states, have recently passed a law that allows for recreational marijuana use.  In that law it allows cities and counties to decide whether or not they want to allow dispensaries in their respective areas.  Unfortunately this is likely the future.  Just how many more states will pass such laws before Congress ultimately deems recreational marijuana use the law of the land from sea to shining sea?

What should be, and still is, a hot topic in states like Michigan that have passed such laws, is an ongoing dispute between city and county councils on whether or not their respective areas are going to be directly involved in the racket or not.  In rural places in Michigan, such discussions have led to some small cities who have decided to allow dispensaries, both medical and recreational, to start and operate in their areas.  Why?

Well it is the future, don’t you know?!  One city council claimed that for years their city has been treading water and stagnant, but with this, they are going to breath life into their city and allow for growth, tax income and other economic incentives.  So while other neighboring communities state, rightfully so, that they want nothing to do with now legalized drug use, this one small town is going to try and benefit off of such immorality.  So what about mankind’s incentive to realize that God has given each man the breath of life?

“And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”  Genesis 2:7

And where exactly is the line drawn?  While seemingly impossible in a fallen society, Billy Sunday was rightfully preaching about prohibition and abstaining from alcohol use one hundred years ago.  Now, with drug use out of control, think the opiate crisis, our society feels that it is right to further perpetuate that drug use is acceptable, as long as tax revenue flows into the coffers of this bankrupt, both morally and by technical economic long term data, society?

Why draw the line there?  Why not legalize brothels around the country, as parts of Nevada have?  Why not allow the use of cocaine, heroin or any color pill that is available?  Perhaps peep shows can make a reappearance in our major cities?  After all, who is looking into what God says about such things?

“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be led astray. Neither prostitutes, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”  1st Corinthians 6:9-10

“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, prostitutes, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”  Revelation 21:8

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil; who put darkness for light and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!  Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and understanding in their own sight!  Woe to those mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mix strong drink; who justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away justice from the righteous!”  Isaiah 5:20-23

So those who are wise warn that these things should not be so, that these things are against God.  The opposition are quick to point out that marijuana is just a plant and therefore not against God.  Well cocaine comes from a plant, as well as opiates and heroin.  These old timers who run these city councils have lost their mind.  Where is wisdom?  Are not the elders, as was the case where they want to allow marijuana in order to breath life into their city, are they not supposed to have obtained some sort of wisdom?

“Great men are not always wise, nor do the aged always discern justice.”  Job 32:9

This isn’t the same maryjane that they were smoking back in Woodstock.  No, that had about 2% THC and the stuff being peddled by the wicked nowadays is numerous times more powerful.  Do these old men think back to the days were they were smoking a joint in a buddy’s basement?  Would they be proud to watch their grandchildren go into a pot shop and light up a joint?!

They want to become trendy, they want to be part of the movement, yet their lives are nearing the age of death, sooner than later.  Of Whom then will they give an account to?

“So then each of us shall give account concerning himself to God.”  Romans 14:12

“And I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away. And there was found no place for them.  And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God. And books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, out of the things which were written in the books.  And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one, according to their works.  And Death and Hades were cast into the Lake of Fire. This is the second death.  And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire.”  Revelation 20:11-15

For those of us who still have eyes to see and ears to hear, let us take heed, for the hour is late and the time is at hand.  What more can be said, but to follow Christ and continue to preach to those who will listen?

“You shall not follow the majority in doing evil”…  Exodus 23:2a

“Therefore let him who thinks he is firmly established take heed that he not fall.”  1st Corinthians 10:12

” Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into the ditch.”  Matthew 15:14

“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord comes.  But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief comes, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be dug through.  Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man comes at an hour you do not expect.  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made administrator over his household, to give them food in due season?  Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.  Truly, I say to you that he will appoint him as administrator over all his possessions.  But if that wicked servant says in his heart, My master delays his coming, and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not expecting him and in an hour he does not know, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”  Matthew 24:42-51

Amen!
