Ships of Chittim – Tidbit Regarding the Antichrist Reign

“For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.”  Daniel 11:30

And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.”  Numbers 24:24

Recently I had a discussion with a pastor who mentioned Balaam’s prophecy and the ships of Chittim, this in retrospect to the Antichrist.

The suggestion here was that these might be merchant ships and possibly be related to the United States of America.

“And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?  And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.”  Daniel 12:8-9

Once again, just as Daniel did not understand everything, so too, I do not proclaim to have all of the answers, nonetheless I found this to be an interesting conversation, as I had never studied into that verse of Daniel, let alone correlated it with a prophecy from Balaam.

Now readers know that there is strong evidence as mentioned in Brandon’s article The Night is Far Spent – Article Seven, to suggest that if we are in the last days and the time is soon coming upon us, where is the Revived Roman Empire, could it not be the United States of America.

The argument was that Cyprus, which most Bible scholars will correlate with the ships of Chittim is not no longer the case.  While the argument made here was a bit more complex, for simplicity, I simply studied out where Chittim was, also with the mindset that America is likely the economic and military portions of the Revived Roman Empire spoken of in Revelation chapter 18.

Now I was left scratching my head because Cyprus, an island nation off the coast of Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea, which received it’s independent from Britain in 1960, is certainly not a threat, or is it?

In recent times (and how much more possibly in the near future) there were nearly deals (perhaps there were, just not instilled yet) made with Russia for the use of a base – right in that area.  In fact China has also been seeking to have closer relations that might also include a Sino-Russian agreement with Cyprus.

So sometimes when we look at things, perhaps they are not yet just in place so we can’t yet –see- that prophecy making sense.  The ultimate conclusion to the matter is unknown, but what is known is because God has spoken it, it will certainly come to pass, this we know, whether it be Cyprus with a military base from Russia or the United States.

“The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:”… Isaiah 14:24

Amen!
