Psalms Walk-Thru #02

Who is the man whom God will have regard towards?  Those who truly follow the Lord and whose heart’s delight is in following Him. (Ps. 1:1-3)

“For Jehovah knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.”  Psalms 1:6

When one diligently considers the things of God, truly is a Believer and seeks to follow the Lord with all of their heart, then that individual can be confident that their footsteps are guarded, according to His will.  (Psalms 37:24)

Where are those who are doing as the Lord pleases?  The world continues to promote evil, walking contrary to their Creator.  Yet the Lord knows those who are His (2 Tim. 2:9) and He delights in those who do His will.  (Ps. 147:11)

I’ve considered that we now live in a time where there are only a few (Mt. 7:14) who are truly doing as they should.  I’ve pondered whether or not there will be a great repentance of our nation or another nation around the world.  Will America repent?  Will a different country?  Why are there so few who seem to truly follow after God?  Why are the churches that are pleasing to Him, far and few in between?  Why has man forsaken the Way (Jn. 14:6) and turned aside to lies?  They desire to have it that way!

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, desiring to hear pleasant things, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.”  2nd Timothy 4:3-4

The problem is not only that people want to have it that way, but they have neglected to realize just who their Creator is.

“For you are not a Mighty God that delights in wickedness; nor shall evil dwell with You.  The boastful shall not stand in Your sight.  You hate all doers of iniquity.  You shall destroy those who speak lies; Jehovah abhors the man of blood and treachery.”  Psalms 5:4-6

We are a nation who cries out to a God, yet we refuse to adhere to our Creator.  When disaster strikes, there are those who then remember that indeed there is a God, that there is One who can help.  Yet do they look towards Him, knowing that He alone is holy (Rev. 15:4) and righteous, knowing that there is no other God?  (Is. 45:5)  Do they look at their own iniquities and cry out in repentance, seeking Salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ?  Do they ask mercy and forgiveness for their wickedness or do they look towards Him who Created the heavens and the earth, asking for assistance with the problem at hand, rather than repentance and a contrite heart?

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.”  Psalms 51:17

Is there still time for the United States to repent?  Is there still time for the inhabitants of this once great country to cry out to the Lord for mercy and forgiveness?  God is willing, but there is no indication that the people are.

“God judges the righteous, and the Mighty God is angry with the wicked every day.  If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready.”  Psalms 7:11-12

How much worse is it for America?  How many countries have went from being a light amongst the inhabitants of the earth to promoting darkness and evil?  Still we would do well to no longer call ourselves a christian nation.  We would do even better not to blaspheme our Creator by walking contrary to Him.  Was not Israel’s history of old a lesson for those who seek to know such things? (1 Cor. 10:11)  Can a country continue to call on God in name only with hearts so far away from His will?

“You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked, You have blotted out their name forever and ever.”  Psalms 9:5

“But Jehovah shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for justice.  And He shall judge the world in righteousness; He shall execute judgment to the people with equity.”  Psalms 9:7-8

Amen!
