Where have all of the preachers gone?

“I say then, has God cast away His people? Let it not be! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.  God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,  Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.  But what does the Divine response say to him? I have reserved to Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.  Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.”  Romans 11:1-5   Certainly there are still preachers who are faithfully doing the work of the Lord throughout the world.  Yet it wasn’t that long ago that in America we had some preachers whom were used by God to proclaim His truth to many, many people across our once great land.  Billy Sunday comes to mind immediately.   Less than a hundred years ago Billy Sunday was preaching to crowds from coast to coast.  It is said that he preached to over a 100 million people directly during the ministry that God had given him to do.  While he was one of the most outspoken opponents of alcohol, he also preached against playing cards, dance halls, theatres and immoral reading material.  Billy Sunday did not shy away from telling the truth about God, proclaiming His truth regarding Creation, a literal devil, a literal Hell and also the Gospel,...

Psalms Walk-Thru #007

“The heavens declare the glory of the Mighty God; and the firmament proclaims His handiwork.”  Psalms 19:1   Right here in this verse we have what is irrefutable evidence, should the world choose to accept it, that God does exist.  There are no excuses as to why mankind should not understand their sinful condition and believe the Gospel.    “For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is clearly recognized by them, for God has revealed it to them.  For ever since the creation of the world the unseen things of Him are clearly perceived, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,  because, although they know God, they do not glorify Him as God, nor are thankful, but become vain in their reasonings, and their stupid hearts are darkened.  Professing to be wise, they become foolish, and change the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”  Romans 1:18-23   As Christians, we must not be compromising about God and what His Word says regarding Creation.  Certainly the world was Created in six, twenty-four periods, or in six days (Gen. 1:31).  Not days that lasted millions or billions of years, literal days.  For if we speak of the Gospel to those who will listen and tell how Jesus died on the Cross for their sins (1 Pet. 2:24), speak of the gift of...

“I love You, O Jehovah, my strength.”  Psalms 18:1   Truly who can make such a statement, who can declare such a thing?  Is this not the will of the Lord?   “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”  John 14:5    After all, “And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart, with all your soul, exceedingly in every way.”  Deuteronomy 6:5   “Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”  Matthew 22:37-40   David also declared in Psalms:   “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.”  Psalms 51:17   How can those who truly know the Lord have such a heart?  For knowing that the Lord takes care of those who are His (1 Pet. 5:7) and seeing the riches He provides for His own  are without fathom (Eph. 3:8).  For after all, He paid the penalty on the Cross for our sins (Rom. 4:25), for all who are willing to repent (Acts 17:30-31) and in faith believe (John 3:16) into Him as their Lord and Savior.   “Jehovah is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my Mighty God, my rock wall, in whom I will trust; He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I will call upon...

“The fool has said in his heart, There is no God! They are corrupt; they have done abominable works, there is no one who does good.”  Psalms 14:1   How much of the world would prefer to say there is no God?  Truly as the time until the end continues, more and more join the ranks of not only being corrupt, but also making such a foolish statement.    “Professing to be wise, they become foolish, and change the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”  Romans 1:22-23   Just on the surface, as a Christian, I could only imagine life without Christ, without the joy of the Lord, what a hopeless state!  To me, to consider that there are those who go throughout life denying their Creator is but unimaginable in my life.  Even though I was Saved at the relatively young age of 9, I still believed in God beforehand.  Yet many of us who are Christians are mocked for such faith and considered foolish for believing such ‘old fashioned myths’.    Truly that puts the foolishness of their heart into prospective.  To be able to look around and clearly see the evidence that God has provided simply in the mirror, while denying God, is not only astonishing, it is a sad condition of the heart.  As Believers we know that we can fully trust the Lord, we understand that He watches out for those who are His and we know that whatever happens to us, happens according to His will.   “Watch over...

Lights Out?

“Seek Jehovah while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”  Isaiah 55:6-7   In Montana, Kalispell is one of the big cities, but in the scope of the nation, it is but a small quiet town.  Having lived in Orlando, Phoenix, Chicago and even a bit of time in Toledo, there is no comparison.  Driving the other night between two small Montana towns, the realization of the scope of potential trouble on the horizon, thinking of how America is so backslidden before God, my spirit was deeply troubled.   Imagine for a moment, if you will, your respective city.  Whether it be a small town on the plains of America, a big hustling urban center of a major city, a medium sized city or even the rural countryside, miles away from the nearest gas station, if the lights went out.  As we were driving between the small city of Kalispell to the very small town of Bigfork, the glistening lights of rural houses and the glimmering of communities approaching against the black night sky was a reminder that we were surrounded by people, who were getting ready for bed in the late evening. What if as we were driving suddenly and without warning all of the lights went out?    What if the dark black sky of night soon became even darker and our headlights on our car became more powerful...
