Cakewalk

“For then there will be great affliction, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.  And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be kept safe alive; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.”  Matthew 24:21-22   The other evening in Kalispell, Montana, my family and I were taking a walk near our neighborhood at dusk.  Glancing towards the Continental Divide we saw the blood moon in its fullness, looking much larger than normal.    I had seen the articles on the internet numerous times prior to this lunar event, but had forgotten that on Friday night it was viewable.  With clear skies, the sight was something out of the ordinary, though I was reminded of the ‘red moon’ that we have seen after dark numerous times.  These types of red moons are due to the amount of smoke in the air from the wildfires that in years prior have been ravishing our forests in the mountainous western part of Montana.    The next day, while reading news, there were articles questioning why so many people thought that the blood moon was a sign of the end of the world.  I remember when the United States shot some missiles into Syria, not too long ago, that there were people who had live feeds up on YouTube, with numerous viewers, who were adamant that World War 3 had just begun.  Here we are several months later.   A lot of people associate lunar and solar events with the end of the world.  In the guises...

Take a Seat, Brother

“Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”  Matthew 7:12   My family and I enjoy watching a show entitled Backroads Montana, from time to time.  While some of the stories are less desirable than others, nonetheless, it gives a good perspective on life throughout the great state of Montana.  The other day we happened upon an episode which had a woman who was recounting her story of running the local Senior Center and relaying the foundation for a friendship that she has with one of the women who frequents the Senior Center.    That friendship was based on the fact that amongst disputes and apparent rivalry, she was at the funeral of her husband.  She entered the church, not knowing where to sit and here this woman simply told her to take a seat next to her.  A complete stranger with a random act of kindness, which affected this director of the Senior Center so much that, though seemingly a small gesture, caused her to have a great deal of respect and love towards this woman who made a seat available.   This article is written for true Christians, those who have truly repented and by faith believed into the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.  Make no mistake, it is not a secret in this world that there is a lot of wrongdoing and infighting, even amongst those who are relatives.  Many families have what would be consider a large amount of dysfunctionality, in regards to their behavior.    Considering the broader perspective, just...

Save Our Planet

“For then there will be great affliction, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.  And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be kept safe alive; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.”  Matthew 24:21-22   “And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men came to be on the earth.  And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And Babylon the great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the anger of His wrath.  And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.  And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. And men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because the plague is exceedingly great.”  Revelation 16:18-21   Recently my family and I took a road trip to Calgary, Canada.  The trip was brief, only one night, but quite productive.  From the Flathead Valley in Montana, we traveled about five and a half hours north to Calgary, finding accommodations.  There we managed to squeeze in a hefty tour of downtown Calgary, a trip up the Calgary Tower, as well as a trip to the zoo.   Heading north into Canada from the Eureka, Montana border crossing, we noted a much different type of environmental conscience of Canada, verses Montana.   By no means would I consider myself to be...

Do Not Resurrect

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”  1st Peter 1:3-5   Not too long ago there was a story of a man who was taken to the emergency room, unconscious.  On his chest there was a tattoo that said ‘Do Not Resurrect’.  The emergency room doctors were at lose with what to do.  They quickly talked to the hospital’s attorneys and decided that they would respect the patients wishes.  Here they had figured out what was wrong with the man, he was savable, they could bring back his normal life, but laws on the books allow for such decisions to be made by individuals.   Afterwards, the emergency room doctors found out that official paperwork had been filed with the state, indeed the man did not want to be resurrected, should he ever be found in that state.  This article is not going to focus much on the debate as to where one draws the line in regards to seeking life saving medical attention.  Indeed it is God who has given each of our lives and Created our soul, let each individual be assured in his own mind about such things.  Rather we must look at the consequences of not resurrecting the Truth of God’s...

Anything But Jesus

“And God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the flying creatures of the heavens, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”  Genesis 1:28   “So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.”  Genesis 9:1   “And Jehovah saw that the evil of man was great on the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all day long.  And Jehovah regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved to His heart.  And Jehovah said, I will obliterate man whom I have created from off the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and flying creatures of the heavens, for I regret having made them.”  Genesis 6:5-7   “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”  Luke 17:26-27   Living in Montana certainly has its advantages.  The other day my family went to visit Glacier National Park.  The Going to the Sun road has only been opened for a week, but with a recent rainy day the opportunity seemed perfect to go.  We had to deal with the light rain, but had the advantage of not having to deal...
