Psalms Walk-Thru #005

“The fool has said in his heart, There is no God! They are corrupt; they have done abominable works, there is no one who does good.”  Psalms 14:1   How much of the world would prefer to say there is no God?  Truly as the time until the end continues, more and more join the ranks of not only being corrupt, but also making such a foolish statement.    “Professing to be wise, they become foolish, and change the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.”  Romans 1:22-23   Just on the surface, as a Christian, I could only imagine life without Christ, without the joy of the Lord, what a hopeless state!  To me, to consider that there are those who go throughout life denying their Creator is but unimaginable in my life.  Even though I was Saved at the relatively young age of 9, I still believed in God beforehand.  Yet many of us who are Christians are mocked for such faith and considered foolish for believing such ‘old fashioned myths’.    Truly that puts the foolishness of their heart into prospective.  To be able to look around and clearly see the evidence that God has provided simply in the mirror, while denying God, is not only astonishing, it is a sad condition of the heart.  As Believers we know that we can fully trust the Lord, we understand that He watches out for those who are His and we know that whatever happens to us, happens according to His will.   “Watch over...

“In Jehovah I put my trust; how can you say to my soul, Flee like a bird to the mountains?  For lo, the wicked bend their bow; they make ready their arrow on the string, so that they may secretly shoot at the upright in heart.  If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”  Psalms 11:1-3   Truly a Christian, one who has repented and believed the Gospel, one who by faith has believed into Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, knows or should know that God Almighty is trustworthy.    There are many sorts of trials and persecutions that Believers go through.  For some it may be as simple as a neighbor who is generally unfriendly, for others they lean on their Maker, knowing that He will keep them safe under His wings (Ps. 91:4).  Depending on where one lives, the conditions of government repression, the religious institutions or religion of the respective country, there are varying degrees of troubles that can come upon a Christian.   Jesus said, “If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before you.  If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  Remember the Word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My Word, they will keep yours also.  But all these things they will do to you on account of My name,...

“Jehovah shall judge the people; judge me, O Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.  O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just. For the righteous God tries the hearts and minds.  My defense is from God, who saves the upright in heart.  God judges the righteous, and the Mighty God is angry with the wicked every day.”  Psalms 7:8-11   If only sometimes it was told as it really is, if only the truth about God was boldly proclaimed, without worrying about being looked down upon.  Then when those who proclaim things that are not, proclaiming lies against their Creator are corrected in the open, what would those who are within earshot do with such knowledge?    Consider our education system.  Our children are taught that evolution is responsible for their existence, yet this is not what God’s Word teaches.  (Rom. 1)  What if there was a revolt against these lies, instead of allowing rebellion against God Almighty?  Should those who know otherwise, who know God’s truth in the matter, sit silently?  Should such teachings be held only in the privacy of one’s own home or should you consider that these lies against our Creator are openly taught and proclaimed boldly to generations of school children?  This is just one example, the list is very long.   Recently a neighbor appeared at my door on helloween with a bag of candy for my son.  She inquired if he could have it, to which I firmly asserted that we don’t celebrate Halloween.  I explained that it was...

Who is the man whom God will have regard towards?  Those who truly follow the Lord and whose heart’s delight is in following Him. (Ps. 1:1-3)    “For Jehovah knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.”  Psalms 1:6   When one diligently considers the things of God, truly is a Believer and seeks to follow the Lord with all of their heart, then that individual can be confident that their footsteps are guarded, according to His will.  (Psalms 37:24)   Where are those who are doing as the Lord pleases?  The world continues to promote evil, walking contrary to their Creator.  Yet the Lord knows those who are His (2 Tim. 2:9) and He delights in those who do His will.  (Ps. 147:11)   I’ve considered that we now live in a time where there are only a few (Mt. 7:14) who are truly doing as they should.  I’ve pondered whether or not there will be a great repentance of our nation or another nation around the world.  Will America repent?  Will a different country?  Why are there so few who seem to truly follow after God?  Why are the churches that are pleasing to Him, far and few in between?  Why has man forsaken the Way (Jn. 14:6) and turned aside to lies?  They desire to have it that way!   “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, desiring to hear pleasant things, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth,...

Psalms Walk-Thru, #01 Intro

We are going to take some time to go through the Book of Psalms, if the Lord doesn’t Rapture (1st Cor. 15:51-52) us out of here first.  While I do not like to necessarily have a favorite book of the Bible, as the whole word of God is profitable for learning (2 Tim. 3:16), Psalms has a special place in my heart, where the Lord has given me some real life applications.  A lot of people wouldn’t look to Psalms for doctrine, but Psalms is in reality part of the Holy Scriptures and full of useful doctrine that correlates with the rest of the Bible (Pr. 30:5).    Take a look at how grim things look for our country, how many more disasters are we going to see?  Already we have had devastating hurricanes, flooding, wildfires & what is next?  As the people of our nation continue to rebel against their Creator, I don’t expect that we will see an end to these types of events (Is. 1:21-23).  Too many problems are on the horizon, political problems, an American debt problem, both for our country and the citizens who also hold too much of a burden of debt, as well as looming threats of war, where in all reality millions of our citizens lives hang in the balance, should such a scenario unfold.  People are so concerned about healthcare, financial ‘fitness’, making ends meet, the things of this world, that they are not even contemplating the things of God (Mt. 6:33)  This is dangerous, for when their life is over, who are they going to stand before?  God Almighty. ...
